Know ye not why We created you all from the same dust?
That no one should exalt themself over the other.
Baha’u’allah, “The Arabic Hidden Words”

The Ascension of Baha’u’llah commemorates the death of the founder of the Baha’i religion. This solemn anniversary is a day of rest, and is often observed by reading or chanting from the scriptures.

Baha’u’llah died peacefully at 3 am on the morning of 29 May 1892 CE. He now lies buried in Bahji, in a shrine surrounded by a garden that is designed to symbolise a future world of order and peace. Devoted Baha’is consider this shrine to be their qiblah, the direction towards which they orientate their prayers.
